Aquí te comparto una guía rápida para predicar con eficacia a cada generación:

�� Generación Silenciosa (nacidos antes de 1945)

• Qué valoran : respeto, tradición, reverencia, estructura.

• Cómo predicarles : usa lenguaje formal, citas bíblicas claras, himnos o música tradicional. Muestra gratitud por su legado de fe.

• Consejo : Sé pastoral. Afirmarlos en su fe firme y constante les llena el alma.

�� Baby Boomers (1946–1964)

• Qué valoran : compromiso, estabilidad, trabajo duro, impacto.

• Cómo predicarles : conecta el Evangelio con legado, misión y propósito. Muestra cómo aún pueden ser útiles en la obra de Dios.

• Consejo : Predica con esperanza y desafíos. Les gusta sentir que su vida sigue haciendo diferencia.

Conclusión

No se trata de dividir la iglesia por edades, sino de comunicar a cada grupo como Jesús lo haría : entendiendo su contexto, lenguaje y luchas. Ser predicador intergeneracional es ser puente entre corazones, unificador de visiones y sembrador de esperanza eterna.

Ellos están en la etapa donde se cuestionan todo, buscan su identidad, y definen su propósito. Pero también es cuando más necesitan respuestas con sentido y fe con fundamento.

Aquí te comparto algunas claves para predicarles con impacto:

1. �� No subestimes su capacidad intelectual

Los universitarios no buscan frases bonitas, sino contenido sólido, con sentido bíblico y relevancia actual . Quieren saber por qué creen, no solo qué deben creer. Usa argumentos claros, conecta con la filosofía, ciencia, cultura y teología… pero sin complicar el mensaje.

�� La verdad no tiene miedo de las preguntas. Dios tampoco.

2. ��️ Sé auténtico, no perfecto

Ellos detectan lo falso. Si no vives lo que predicas, no te escucharán. Si muestras vulnerabilidad, testimonio real, y pasión honesta por lo que compartes, ellos te seguirán. Predicarles es más testimonio que técnica.

�� “No quiero que me impresionen, quiero que me entiendan.”

3. �� Conecta la Biblia con sus batallas reales

Habla de temas como ansiedad, identidad, sexualidad, justicia, propósito, adicciones, soledad, decisiones… pero hazlo desde la Palabra con compasión y sin juicio . Muestra cómo Jesús sigue siendo relevante en la universidad, en la carrera, en el corazón y en el futuro profesional.

4. �� Invítalos al diálogo, no al monólogo

Dales voz. Escucha sus ideas. Responde preguntas. Predicarles también incluye foros, grupos pequeños, charlas informales y espacio para pensar juntos . El púlpito no siempre es el lugar más efectivo; a veces, lo es una mesa de café.

5. �� No los presiones a “creer ya”, pero siémbrales bien

Muchos universitarios no decidirán en el momento, pero lo que les digas puede germinar años después . Confía en el proceso del Espíritu Santo. Predica con claridad, pero también con paciencia. Ellos están creciendo. El tiempo y el testimonio hacen la diferencia.

Aquí algunos consejos sencillos, pero poderosos:

1. �� Usa imágenes, objetos y dramatización

Los Aventureros aprenden con lo que ven y tocan. No basta con hablar: hay que mostrar. Usa títeres, peluches, disfraces, dibujos, elementos de la naturaleza… ¡todo lo que despierte su atención! Cada predicación puede convertirse en una historia visual que ellos recordarán por años.

✨ Si puedes hacerles imaginar, puedes tocar su corazón.

2. �� Cuenta historias cortas y con propósito

No necesitan teología profunda. Necesitan historias con lecciones claras , centradas en valores como la obediencia, la verdad, el amor, la fe, la gratitud. Usa personajes bíblicos que se parezcan a ellos. ¿Qué niño no quiere ser como Samuel, o como la niña que ayudó a Naamán?

�� “Jesús también fue niño como tú” — eso les abre el corazón.

3. �� Usa palabras simples y frases repetibles

Ellos aman las frases que pueden repetir o cantar. Usa una idea clave y repítela durante tu predicación como un canto o coro. Ejemplo:

�� “Jesús me cuida… todos los días”

�� “Dios me hizo valiente”

Haz que participen con sus voces y gestos.

4. �� Conecta con sus emociones

Los Aventureros se sienten amados cuando los miras a los ojos, cuando les sonríes, cuando los llamas por su nombre. Predicarles no es solo enseñar, es abrazarlos con el mensaje . Dios también habla con ternura.

Aquí te comparto algunos consejos prácticos que he aprendido después de años predicando en Camporees, clubes, y eventos de jóvenes alrededor del mundo:

1. �� Adáptate a su mundo

Los Conquistadores son visuales, dinámicos, prácticos. Si puedes, usa objetos, símbolos, uniforme, nudos, brújulas, mochilas o ilustraciones de campamentos para predicar. Jesús hablaba de semillas, ovejas y caminos. Tú puedes hablar de mapas, fogatas y caminatas.

�� Un mensaje que conecta con su mundo se vuelve inolvidable.

2. �� Habla con ellos, no solo a ellos

Haz preguntas. Involúcralos. Llévalos a pensar. A veces una historia o una dinámica vale más que 20 minutos de teoría. ¡Haz que se muevan, que participen, que respondan!

✋ Predicar no es un monólogo; es una experiencia que construyes con ellos.

3. �� Haz que la Biblia cobre vida

No uses la Biblia como un adorno. Úsala como un mapa. Muestra cómo David fue un joven valiente como ellos. Cómo Esther tuvo que tomar decisiones firmes. Cómo Jesús empezó su misión siendo joven. Dales un héroe bíblico con quien identificarse… y apunta siempre a Cristo como su guía.

4. �� Muestra el propósito

Los Conquistadores no están en el Club solo para aprender habilidades. Están ahí para descubrir su misión . Tu predicación debe ayudarlos a entender que su vida tiene valor, su fe tiene dirección, y su club es una plataforma de servicio.

�� Un Conquistador motivado se convierte en un embajador del cielo en la tierra.

5. �� Predica con pasión y corazón

No necesitas gritar, pero sí necesitas creer en lo que dices . Ellos sentirán si estás predicando porque “te toca” o porque de verdad te importa su salvación . Sé real. Sé alegre. Sé claro. Y sobre todo, ¡hazlo con amor!

Conclusión

Predicar a los Conquistadores es sembrar en un terreno fértil. Muchos de ellos recordarán tu mensaje por años, no por lo bonito que hablaste, sino por cómo les hiciste sentir: valientes, amados, útiles, llamados.

�� Predicar no es actuar. Es ser transparente con un mensaje eterno.

2. Conecta con sus preguntas, no solo con tus respuestas

Los jóvenes no quieren sermones prefabricados. Quieren saber cómo la fe impacta sus dilemas reales: identidad, propósito, relaciones, ansiedad, justicia. Escucha sus preguntas antes de preparar tu respuesta.

�� Jesús siempre comenzó con las necesidades del corazón antes de enseñar la verdad del cielo.

3. Usa historias con sentido

Your worldview shapes how you see yourself, others, and the world. The Bible offers a trustworthy narrative of your origin, a moral compass for daily decisions, and real hope for the future. The Real Struggles Young People Are Facing

When I think about the challenges young people face today, my mind often goes back to the encounters I’ve had in war zones. In some places, youth are forced into armed conflict before they’ve even had a chance to understand who they are. For them, the challenge is not just surviving each day, but learning how to live with trauma that may last a lifetime.

In other parts of the world, young people live under oppressive systems where tradition dictates everything—what career they will pursue, what they will believe, and even who they are allowed to love. I’ve also met young people whose daily struggle is to find clean water or a piece of bread to eat.

My calling has taken me around the world, offering spiritual resources to young people in all kinds of circumstances. But today, I want to shift the focus. I want to speak directly to the challenges of young people in North America. Because of the cultural reach of this region, many of these struggles will resonate with youth everywhere.

Youth is a season of big questions and life shaping decisions. That, in itself, is one of the greatest challenges. Let me show you what I mean by introducing you to some real stories. The names have been changed, but the experiences are very real.

Steve: Searching for Meaning

Steve is a university student I spoke with for about forty minutes. His heart was full of questions.

Did God have anything to do with how humanity came into being?

Can science and faith really go together?

Is there a purpose to life?

Does my life matter?

What is right and wrong based on?

How can I make a real impact?

Sometimes adults overlook these questions or brush them off with rehearsed answers. But I believe that’s a disservice. These are not just philosophical questions—they are deeply personal. And Steve is not the only one asking them.

Maybe you are too.

The truth is, we live in a time when answers feel further away than ever. We are surrounded by more information than any generation before, but we are also surrounded by more confusion. It is harder than ever to separate fact from fiction. Some, like Steve, keep asking. Others simply give up and turn to apathy. That attitude shows up in how they live their lives.

Keila: Crushed by Expectations

Keila is sixteen. After many conversations, she finally opened up to me. For years, she had been the target of cruel comments about her appearance. Social media and pop culture only made it worse. She was trying to live up to an impossible image of beauty.

When we talked, she told me she felt like a survivor. She had found a friend who loved her for who she was and thought she was beautiful. Their bond had grown into something romantic, and both hoped to become a couple.

Keila is not alone. Many young people today are unsure of who they are. They do not trust the reflection they see in the mirror. They feel pressure to conform to society’s expectations about beauty, identity, and even sexuality. Somewhere along the way, they lost their sense of self.

John: Looking for a Place to Belong

John grew up in a home that made him feel worthless. During his teenage years, he joined a gang. For the first time, he felt like he belonged. Though he calls himself a Christian, it is hard for him to trust people. The group that supports him does not lead him to make wise choices. The people who should guide him often feel absent or judgmental.

John battles with loneliness and has been through periods of deep depression. Unfortunately, his story is more common than it seems. Even with the endless connections of social media, many young people feel completely alone. Families, schools, and churches have sometimes failed to offer the support that gangs and online communities have managed to provide.

William: Torn Between Passion and Survival

You might know someone like William. Maybe you are him.

William is stuck between two paths. He loves something that is not financially sustainable. But the more profitable options feel draining and joyless. He does not want to spend his life just earning a paycheck—but he also does not want to struggle forever.

The modern economy changes fast. Jobs that were valuable yesterday are obsolete today. Young people are trying to choose between passion and paycheck. And when the two align, the next question is: Is the effort worth it?

María, Tony, and Many More

There are too many stories to count. I have to group them here, because they repeat over and over.

Tony is struggling with drug addiction. Peter cannot stop drinking. Ramon is a chain smoker. The painful part? All three recently joined the church and are sincerely trying to walk with God.

Then there’s María. She is in college, but her addiction to social media keeps her from managing her time. She procrastinates constantly. Her life is slowly slipping out of her hands.

And the truth is, there are millions more just like them—young people watching their lives pass by while they are trapped in harmful habits and digital distractions.

Christina: Spiritually Empty

Christina is another believer. She has not lost her faith, and she never stopped believing in God. But something is missing. Her spiritual life feels dry. The church no longer fills the emptiness in her soul. She prays, she participates—but deep down, she feels like God has become distant and irrelevant.

More Questions Than Answers

I have shared these stories because I believe the struggles, doubts, and wounds of today’s youth matter. I am not here to pretend I have all the answers. I do not believe there is always a one size fits all solution.

But I do hope this helps you pause for a moment—to reflect, to take your life seriously. You only get one. And it is worth living it well.

Yes, youth is full of questions. But it is also full of possibility. The choices you make now will shape your future. And the good news is, you do not have to face these questions alone.

Let me close with a powerful quote from the ancient wisdom of King Solomon. After a lifetime of extreme living, he left this message:

"Be happy while you are young and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. But remember that God will judge you for everything you do. Even the best days of youth are a passing shadow.

Remember your Creator while you are young, before the days of trouble come and you say, 'Life is no longer good.'

Now all has been heard. Here is the conclusion of the matter: Honor God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every secret thing, whether it is good or evil."

I remember watching a petty officer carefully clean a common area late at night after a long shift.

How Worship Looks When You Are 7,000 Miles From Home

Worship during deployment is not polished. It is raw and real. Sometimes it happens in a converted storage room, a tent, or a dusty corner of a hangar. Yet, it becomes holy ground.

One Christmas Eve in Bahrain, we packed into our small chapel.

Some stood by the walls. Others sat on the floor. The choir was made up of whoever could sing. Tears flowed as we sang "Silent Night." Amid war zone alerts and family separation, that night reminded us of peace.

As a Christian chaplain, I am grounded in my own faith in Jesus Christ. At the same time, my role is to ensure that every service member, regardless of their beliefs, is supported. That does not mean I abandon or blend my faith. It means I honor theirs by listening, journeying with them, and standing beside them in their times of need.

Chaplains make worship happen, for all faiths. We lead services, set up prayer rooms, and find ways to connect people to God. We also ensure that Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and other service members can practice their faith with dignity and support. In doing so, we affirm the God-given dignity of each person.

Spiritual life does not stop during war. It deepens. Chaplains make sure that no matter where our people are, they can find sacred space to breathe, believe, and belong.

Deployment in the Middle East is never routine. At any moment, the calm can turn into chaos. As chaplains, we are not armed. But we stand in the same danger as those we serve.

One evening during a deployment in the Middle East, we received credible threats against U.S. installations in the region.

The atmosphere shifted instantly. Security tightened. People became quiet, focused, on edge. That night, a sailor approached me in the chapel. He said, "Chaplain, if something happens, please make sure someone tells my daughter I love her."

It wasn’t a question. It was a cry from the soul.

In those moments, our ministry is not about preaching. It is about anchoring. We help sailors deal with fear, not by pretending it doesn't exist, but by offering peace greater than fear. We hold space for those who feel vulnerable. We remind them that courage is not the absence of fear, but the choice to keep going.

We visit command centers, pray with leaders, walk through barracks, and offer moments of stillness amid tension. We speak words of life when death looms too closely.

More Than Prayers, We Walk Through Fire With Them

When people hear "Navy Chaplain," they often imagine someone standing behind a pulpit, leading prayers on Sunday morning. While that’s part of the role, the full picture is much deeper and more demanding. A Navy chaplain is a spiritual leader, crisis counselor, moral compass, and often the quiet presence during life’s loudest storms.

We serve in every environment, ships, submarines, combat zones, and remote bases. We walk the decks with our sailors and the corridors with our Marines. We are visible reminders of the holy in places that often feel anything but...

I remember one sailor who had just lost his mother while we were deployed in the Middle East.

He wasn’t granted emergency leave. He was stuck, thousands of miles away, overwhelmed with grief and helplessness. He didn’t need answers. He needed presence. I sat with him. I listened. I prayed when he asked. That’s what chaplains do. We carry their pain, not fix it.

We offer confidential counseling, regardless of rank or belief. We lead religious services, facilitate for other faiths, and advise commanders on ethical and morale issues. But above all, we are there. In the mess halls, at the gym, in the field, we show up.

Youth and Prophecy: A Seventh-day Adventist Perspective

Prophecy has always played a vital role in God’s work on earth. From the time of Daniel and Esther to the early church and the last days, God has spoken through visions, messages, and the guidance of His Spirit. As Seventh-day Adventists, we believe that prophecy is not just about predicting events, but about preparing hearts. Young people are a powerful part of that prophetic movement.

God Has Always Used Youth

The Bible is full of young people who heard God’s voice and made a difference. Joseph received dreams as a teenager, Samuel heard God calling him while still a boy, Jeremiah was called to be a prophet when he was very young, Daniel stood firm for truth in his youth, Esther spoke courageously for her people while still young. God has never waited for someone to reach a certain age before using them.

Ellen White writes,
“With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world.” (Education, p. 271)

This is a prophetic call, not only to speak about the future, but to live with purpose and power today.

Prophecy Is Not Just About the Future

Sometimes we think prophecy is only about charts, dates, and end-time events. While those are important, prophecy is first and foremost about drawing closer to Jesus. The spirit of prophecy points us to Christ, helps us understand His mission, and prepares us to reflect His character.

The book of Revelation is called the “Revelation of Jesus Christ.” Prophecy reveals who Jesus is, what He has done, and what He will do. For young people, studying prophecy is a way to grow in faith, develop spiritual focus, and strengthen their commitment to God’s mission.

A Call to Live with Purpose

Youth who understand prophecy do not have to fear the future. Instead, they live with hope, clarity, and direction. Ellen White encouraged young people to be students of the Word and to understand the times in which they live.

She said,
“Young men and women should be more earnest to become acquainted with the reasons of our faith. Why are we Seventh-day Adventists? What is the foundation of our faith?”

(Messages to Young People, p. 384)

Prophecy helps youth see that we are part of a bigger story. It calls us to share God’s love, stand for truth, and prepare the world for Jesus’ return.

Avoiding Extremes

While we affirm the importance of prophecy, we must be careful not to fall into fear, speculation, or fanaticism. The goal is not to create confusion or sensationalism. The goal is to lead people to Jesus.

Paul reminds us that “the spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophets” (1 Corinthians 14:32). That means we test everything by Scripture, guided by prayer and humility. We do not need to fear the prophetic gift, but we must treat it with reverence and balance.

Ellen White herself warned against extreme views.

She wrote,
“There is danger, constant danger, of allowing the imagination to forge things which have no real existence. It is one of the most successful delusions of Satan.”
(Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 41)

Balanced study, Spirit-led teaching, and Christ-centered living are the key.

Final Thoughts

Young people are not just the future of the church, they are a prophetic voice for today. They are called to live with passion, guided by the Word, and rooted in a clear understanding of our mission. Prophecy is not a distraction, it is a direction. It helps youth rise with purpose, walk in faith, and prepare others to meet Jesus.

When youth are filled with the Spirit, grounded in Scripture, and aware of the times, they become a living message, a prophecy in motion. That is the kind of generation God is raising today.

Here are some important principles to keep in mind when sharing God’s message with them.

Keep it short and simple

Adventurers have short attention spans, and that is okay. Speak for just a few minutes, five to ten at most. Use simple language. One clear message is enough. Repeat the key point so they can remember it. Less is more when their minds are still growing.

Tell a story they can feel

Children love stories. They remember the characters, the emotions, and the lesson behind them. Tell a Bible story in a way that makes it come alive. Use facial expressions, hand motions, and changes in your voice. Let them feel the excitement, the joy, and the lesson. End the story with a simple truth they can take with them.

Show, do, and move

Adventurers learn through their senses. Use objects, colors, toys, pictures, or simple props. If you are talking about forgiveness, bring a bandage or heart. If you are talking about creation, show a flower or a picture of animals. When possible, invite them to move, repeat a phrase, or act out part of the story. Movement helps them learn.

Use songs, smiles, and joy

Sing a short song they know or teach them a fun chorus that goes with your message. Smile often. Be full of joy and warmth. Adventurers respond best when they feel safe, loved, and excited to listen. Your smile is part of your sermon.

Connect it to their world

Talk about things they understand — family, school, pets, sharing, telling the truth, being kind. Use examples from their daily life. Let them see that Jesus cares about their little problems, their choices, and their hearts.

End with a blessing or prayer

Close with a short, loving prayer or blessing. Say something like, “Jesus loves you and wants to be your best friend,” or “You can be kind like Jesus this week.” Keep it short, sweet, and meaningful. Remind them they are loved and special.

Final Encouragement

When you preach to Adventurers, you are helping shape the foundation of their faith. Be gentle, be joyful, and keep your message full of Jesus. You may never know how much one simple story or kind word can impact a child’s heart forever.

Ask questions, use their names, or invite participation. If possible, use object lessons or visual aids. Pathfinders remember what they see, touch, and do. Engagement helps the message stick and makes the experience fun and memorable.

Point them to Jesus

No matter the theme, always bring it back to Jesus. Show His love, His character, and His mission. Help Pathfinders see that Jesus is their friend, their Savior, and their example. Invite them to follow Him with joy and purpose.

Respect their world

Pathfinders are navigating school, friendships, family life, social media, and spiritual questions. Acknowledge what they are going through. Speak to their reality, and let them know God cares about their everyday lives.

Finish with a clear challenge

Give them a specific takeaway. Whether it is a decision to pray daily, to serve someone, or to forgive a friend, challenge them to act on what they heard. Pathfinders like to move, so give them something to do with their faith.

Final Encouragement

Preaching to Pathfinders is not about performing, it is about connecting. It is not about impressing, it is about inspiring. Speak with love, clarity, and joy. Point them to Jesus with every word. And remember, your message may be short, but its impact can last a lifetime.

Ellen White and the Adventist Youth: A Call to Mission and Preaching

In Kenya , I met Daniel, a 14-year-old who walked 10 miles to attend a Pathfinder leadership workshop. Daniel reminded me that when we see potential before problems , we unlock something divine in a young person’s life.

Tip: Don’t focus on what youth lack. See what God has planted in them. Speak life, offer opportunities, and let them rise.

2. Train, Don’t Entertain – Teach with Purpose

In Norway , I once led a team-building challenge in the snow. Teens were asked to build a cross using only natural elements. When they finished, I asked them to share what the process meant. Generation Z, those born roughly between 1997 and 2012, are the most connected, informed, and socially aware generation in history. They are also spiritually curious, though not always religious. They scroll through questions of identity, justice, purpose, and truth daily. They are skeptical of institutions, but hungry for authenticity. They do not want to be spectators, they want to build something that matters.

The question is not, “Can we reach Gen Z?”

The real question is, “Are we willing to meet them where they are and call them where God wants them to go?”

Here are five ways to reach Generation Z and invite them into mission, not just as supporters, but as builders, leaders, and catalysts.

1. Speak Their Language, Keep the Message Clear

Gen Z communicates through short videos, visuals, and authenticity. They do not need us to water down the gospel, but they need us to speak it in a way that is relevant and real.

In Germany, I once sat with a group of teens after worship. One boy said, “I want truth, but I want to feel it, not just hear it.” That reshaped how I preached the next day. I used story, Scripture, and honest emotion. The response was powerful, not because of eloquence, but because I connected.

Tip: Use visuals, real stories, and creative tools. Be genuine. This generation values honesty over perfection, connection over performance.

2. Create Belonging Before Expecting Belief

Gen Z longs for connection. In a world filled with loneliness, performance pressure, and noise, they crave community that feels like family.

Tip: Build trust before giving assignments. Make your youth spaces relational, not transactional. Let them know they are seen and heard.

3. Invite Them to Lead, Not Just Help

This generation does not just want to join programs. They want to lead movements. They want to make a difference.

In Brazil, we asked the youth what they wanted to do for their community. Within two days, they organized a blood drive, led street prayers, and planned a service project—on their own. When we trust them, they show up with bold ideas and deep compassion.

Tip: Let them lead worship, organize outreach, speak up in planning meetings, and take creative risks. Let them shape the vision, not just follow it.

4. Help Them Connect Passion With Purpose

Gen Z cares about injustice, mental health, the planet, and people. The church must help them understand how their passion can be used for kingdom impact.

In Kenya, a teenage girl with a passion for clean water started fundraising and awareness campaigns through social media. She partnered with ADRA and organized a clean water project for a village near her home. That was her mission—real, tangible, and life-giving.

Tip: Show them that the mission includes healing, innovation, advocacy, and creativity. Mission is not limited to preaching. It includes restoring hope and bringing light wherever they are.

5. Lead by Example, Walk With Them

Gen Z follows people, not titles. They want mentors, not managers. They want to see faith, not just hear about it.

In Argentina, I spent time with a youth pastor who never missed rehearsals or campouts. He did not just speak on stage, he was in their group chats, their prayer circles, their real life. The youth followed him because he lived what he preached.

Tip: Be consistent, present, and transparent. Your faith journey speaks louder than any program. Be someone worth following.
